In Future Tourism, the self is an encounter with possibilities dwelling within lands and people, a catalogue of friendships, cuisines, and revelries. Part travelogue, part notebook for a coming distillation of memory, this poem ruptures the erasures of capitalism, challenges the force of line-breaks, and reckons with the embodied vocabulary of our senses. It shapes a new way of chronicling subjectivity whereby friends and places subsume each other. Pérez’s poem delivers the future in the present of travel.
